application log.

I want to meet some of the people I follow (here, tumblr, twitter) in real life. You all seem like very interesting people that can hold good conversations and just have fun. But then again, that is not guaranteed. In my communication theories class, we discussed computer-mediated communication (CMC) vs. face-to-face communication (FTF). People tend to present themselves differently on CMC than the reality which is presented in FTF. Computer-mediated text include text messages, emails, instant messaging, websites, video chat, etc. I actually know a lot of people that express themselves much more on Twitter than they ever would in real life. Social networking sites definitely seem like they disable people from creating real friendships; individuals of my generation lack interpersonal skills.

Have you seen this in action? Do you prefer CMC over FTF? General thoughts?

ohhh i had comm theory. i loved that class. with certain people i think i need a little bit of both for balance but with those who i care the most for i like to have ftf.

Aww I remember those theories from my comm courses lol. I prefer FTF, CMC is getting out of control nowadays.
